Scheduling for tutoring: standing times, changing weeks
Most tutoring students come at the same time every week. But there is always a lesson that is cancelled, one that has to be made up or an extra one. LessonSolutions keeps the standing schedule and lets every week move.
Standing lesson times that fill themselves in
You set a standing lesson time per student: day, time, length, subject and rate. The lessons for the coming weeks are then in your schedule. If something changes, you edit the standing time, for the next lessons or for all upcoming ones.
Cancellations, make-ups and extra lessons
- Cancel a lesson, in time or late, so your late-cancellation policy is right on the invoice.
- Book a make-up for a cancelled lesson without it being invoiced as an extra lesson.
- Add a one-off extra lesson or a trial lesson.
- Enter a school holiday, and the planned lessons in those weeks are dropped.
- Pause a student until a date without losing the standing lesson time.
One lesson, several subjects
A 45-minute lesson can be maths and spelling. You schedule it with both subjects; in the schedule it keeps the colour of the main subject, and after the lesson you note for each subject how it went.
What you will do in the lesson
Next to when, there is what: in a student's lesson plan you list the topics you are working on, with a short instruction and a goal. The plan carries into every week until the goal is reached.
Your week at a glance
You see your schedule as a list, by day, by week or by month, and you are warned when two lessons overlap.

Do parents see the schedule?
Yes. The upcoming lessons are in their child's parent portal.
What happens to lessons in the school holidays?
Enter the holiday once and the planned lessons in that period are dropped. Lessons you already taught or invoiced stay.
Can I make up a cancelled lesson later?
Yes. From the cancelled lesson you book a make-up. It belongs to the original lesson and is not invoiced as an extra one.
